Cross Institutional Enrolment

Cross institutional study is available to current UWA students who wish to undertake a relevant unit/s of study at another Australian institution (including an Australian offshore campus) because it is not being offered at UWA. If your application to undertake cross institutional study is approved by both institutions, upon successful completion of this study, you will be granted credit for these unit/s towards your award course at UWA.

In order to apply for permission to undertake cross institutional study, you must submit the unit/course outlines to the relevant Faculty along with an Application for Cross Institutional Study form. Application forms can be downloaded here or collected from the Enquiry Counter, Student Administration (Hackett Hall).

Applications for Semester 1, 2010 can be submitted commencing Wednesday 7 October and finishing Tuesday 8 December 2009.

Applications for Semester 2, 2010 can be submitted commencing Monday 17 May 2010 and finishing Friday 29 June 2010.

Once permission is granted by UWA, you should then approach the other institution to submit your application for cross institutional study. Leave plenty of time to deal with administration at both Universities and check the closing date for your application at the host University. Throughout the period of your cross institutional study, it is your responsibility to maintain an enrolment at both UWA and the host institution.

Cross institutional study incurs a student contribution or fee liability as determined by the host institution. Cross institutional students are required to make their student contribution or fee payment to the institution at which they are undertaking the relevant units.

International students may be able to undertake cross institutional study at another Australian institution. International students should clarify with the destination institution that they accept international cross institutional students and the fees involved in doing so. You should contact the UWA International Centre for further details.

Once the unit/s of study have been completed and you have received an official notification of your results, it is your responsibility to provide the relevant Faculty Office or Student Administration with a formal academic transcript in order for that unit/s of study to be credited towards your award course.

Students Undertaking an Award Course at Another Institution

Students undertaking an award course (a course of study leading to a degree) at another institution other than UWA may apply to undertake a unit(s) of study at UWA for credit toward their degree on a cross institutional basis at UWA.

You must lodge your Cross Institutional Admission and Enrolment form along with all supporting documentation and Commonwealth Support and HECS-HELP form (where applicable) at the Enquiry Counter, Student Administration (Hackett Hall). Failure to include all requested documentation will result in increased delays to your application. You must ensure your application has been approved by your home institution first by obtaining the required signatures in section B of the form.

Applications close two weeks prior to the start of the relevant semester. Late applications may be considered upon payment of a non-refundable late fee of $100.00 payable at the Enquiry Counter, Student Administration (Hackett Hall) when lodging the form. Click here for semester dates. Semester 1, 2010 Closing Date - Monday 8 February 2010.

If your application is approved, you will be enrolled in the approved units at UWA and will receive a Current Enrolment Statement as confirmation of your enrolment. You will need to present yourself at the Enquiry Counter, Student Administration (Hackett Hall) to obtain your Campus Card (student ID card). Throughout the period of your cross institutional study you must maintain an enrolment at both your home and host institution.

Cross institutional study incurs a student contribution or fee liability as determined by the host institution. Cross institutional students are required to make their student contribution or fee payment to the institution at which they are undertaking the relevant units. Student contribution amounts and tuition fees for units of study for domestic students can be found here. International students are required to contact the International Fees Officer on 6488 1409 to obtain fee information.
